THE SUDBURY AND DISTRICT KENNEL CLUB
BITE PREVENTION PROGRAM

We are a group of Sudbury District Kennel Club volunteers that give freely of our time as handlers/instructors to educate the public  on dog bite prevention. This is a hands on experience where the handlers and dogs interact with the public and demonstrate the use of  human and canine body language . We explain about the “Aggressive Dog” or “The Fear Biting Dog”. “My dog doesn’t bite” is a phrase we have all heard before. The goal of the Bite Prevention Team is to educate the public so there are fewer dog bites and to allow happier families and pets.

Our bite prevention program has been presented in such places as schools, VALE (INCO), daycare facilities and girl guides. We have traveled as far as Elliot Lake to give our expertise and demonstrations to schools in the area. Feedback about our program has been great. Ex...one principal was unsure of staying in the gym during the presentation but, after the program was over he said he wished he would have had some of the information we had presented earlier in his life as he would have had more confidence to be around dogs with the knowledge gained by the presentation .
